The Serengeti is the heart of the African safari experience, where every game drive feels like an adventure and the wilderness is at its purest and undisturbed. It is renowned for its sweeping landscapes, where vast golden plains stretch to the horizon. This open landscape offers incredible views, and the chance to watch wildlife roam freely is an experience unlike any other. It is home to a wealth of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino). It boasts one of the highest concentrations of big cats in Africa, including large prides of lions, leopards stalking the trees, and cheetahs racing across the open plains in pursuit of prey. Aside from the Big Five, the Serengeti is home to vast herds of giraffes, zebras, impalas, and wildebeests, while predators such as hyenas, cheetahs, and wild dogs patrol the land. The park is also home to an astounding variety of bird species, including vultures, eagles, and flamingos around the seasonal lakes.
You will spend two nights exploring Central Serengeti (Seronera). This region is known for its vast, open plains and abundant wildlife, making it an ideal location for game drives year-round. The Central Serengeti is particularly renowned for its rich concentration of predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, as well as the iconic wildebeest and zebra herds that are part of the Great Migration. The Seronera River that flows through this area is a lifeline for wildlife, attracting large numbers of animals during the dry season, especially elephants, buffaloes, and various antelope species.
The other two nights, you will concentrate on Serengeti North (Kogatende) which is one of the best spots to witness the dramatic spectacle of the Great Migration, particularly during the months of July to October when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the Mara River. The river crossings here are some of the most iconic and thrilling moments in safari travel, with massive herds battling strong currents and predators lurking nearby.
